Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope

Vintage Inspiration Meets Master Chronometer Precision

The Speedmaster Chronoscope collection takes the legendary Moonwatch silhouette and infuses it with the soul of OMEGA’s 1940s chronographs. The name itself—derived from the Greek "Chronos" (time) and "Scope" (to observe)—perfectly captures the essence of this multi-functional tool watch.

Its most striking feature is the "snail" dial architecture, presenting a unique spiral track that allows the wearer to measure speed, distance, and heart rate with a single glance. This is a timepiece designed for those who appreciate the complexity of traditional watchmaking and the reliability of modern technology.

THE TRIPLE SCALE

  • Tachymeter: Measures speed based on distance traveled.
  • Telemeter: Measures distance from an audible/visible event.
  • Pulsometer: A 30-pulse scale for measuring heart rate.

TECHNICAL SPECS

  • Case: 43mm Stainless Steel
  • Movement: Calibre 9908 (Manual-Wind)
  • Power Reserve: 60 Hours
  • Magnetic Resistance: 15,000 Gauss

METAS CERTIFIED EXCELLENCE

Inside beats the METAS-certified Master Chronometer Calibre 9908, featuring a beautiful Arabesque finish and a dual-barrel system for stable, consistent torque.

While both are part of the Speedmaster family, the Moonwatch is a 42mm NASA-certified flight tool with a "Tricompax" (3-dial) layout. The Chronoscope is 43mm, features a "Bicompax" (2-dial) layout, and includes three vintage timing scales (Tachymeter, Telemeter, and Pulsometer) that the standard Moonwatch lacks.

The Chronoscope uses the OMEGA Calibre 9908, which is a manual-winding movement. This honors the heritage of classic chronographs and allows the watch to maintain a slimmer profile (12.8mm) than many automatic alternatives.

The Tachymeter measures speed over a fixed distance; the Telemeter uses the speed of sound to tell you how far away an event (like lightning) is; and the Pulsometer is calibrated to 30 heartbeats to quickly calculate a pulse per minute.

Yes, it is water-resistant up to 50 meters (5 bar). This is suitable for daily wear and light splashes, but it is not intended for swimming, diving, or high-pressure water activities.

What is the "Master Chronometer" certification? A: This means the watch has passed rigorous testing by METAS (The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology). It guarantees the highest standards of precision, a 60-hour power reserve, and industry-leading magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss.

To preserve the vintage "snail" dial aesthetic and perfect symmetry, OMEGA chose not to include a date window on the Chronoscope models.
